Claude launches observability features for MCP connectors, enabling developers to monitor performance and debug errors. Public beta available now.

Claude has launched a public beta for its new observability features targeted at developers building connectors using the Model Context Protocol (MCP). These tools aim to improve monitoring, debugging, and performance optimization for third-party connectors integrated into the Claude ecosystem, which includes products like Claude Code and Cowork.

The announcement highlights several key capabilities. Developers can now track connector adoption metrics, such as active users, total tool calls, and directory rankings, all within a dedicated dashboard. Additionally, error rates, latency, and detailed per-tool health diagnostics are accessible, enabling faster debugging and issue resolution. The tools also allow developers to analyze usage trends across different Claude products, offering insights into where and how users engage with their connectors.

This enhanced observability aligns with broader trends in the software development and AI industry, where telemetry is becoming increasingly critical. Observability platforms like Datadog (NASDAQ: DDOG) have advanced the field by aggregating logs, metrics, and traces for distributed systems, cloud services, and now AI-driven workflows. In March 2026, Datadog launched its MCP Server, which provides AI agents with real-time access to unified observability data, underscoring the growing importance of connectors as bridges between AI systems and enterprise infrastructure.

Claude’s move to offer these tools could be seen as a direct response to this trend. The MCP ecosystem is already substantial, with over 300 third-party connectors listed in Claude’s directory and used by millions daily. By enabling developers to submit their MCP servers directly via the Claude platform, the company aims to streamline the expansion of its ecosystem while ensuring quality and performance standards. However, access to these observability features requires a Team or Enterprise account with specific permissions, reflecting its positioning as a premium offering.

From a market perspective, the growing focus on AI observability and integrations like MCP aligns with investor interest in related technologies. Datadog, a key player in this space, currently trades at $230.88 per share with a market cap of $84.24 billion as of June 8, 2026. Its recent financial results and partnerships, such as the March collaboration with Cohesity, demonstrate how observability is extending beyond traditional monitoring into AI-driven use cases, including connector management. Claude’s latest feature set could make it a notable competitor in this expanding segment.

The public beta is live now, and developers interested in leveraging these observability tools can access them under the Directory section in Claude’s Organization settings. For those wanting to contribute to the MCP ecosystem, server submissions are also now supported directly through the platform. As observability becomes increasingly central to AI and developer workflows, offerings like this may play a key role in shaping the next generation of connected, resilient systems.
